Jean Campbell lives near Woodstock in New York’s Catskill Mountains. She paints, pots and weaves in her studio there. Campbell grew up surrounded by fine examples of Pennsylvania Dutch furniture and folk art in Pennsylvania’s Amish Country. The folk aesthetic comes naturally to her and she has always been drawn to animals. The artist’s grey cat, Kitty, features prominently in a number of these paintings. Campbell has a lively intellect and a wonderful sense of composition, color, spontaneity and most importantly, humor – all qualities found in her art.
